Fiberglass Sub Box

When the fiberglass dries, it is time to trim off the extra and work on sub fitting. As mentioned earlier, I had to trim and sand quite a bit because I did not make a flush mount - It really wasn't bad at all with the help of a dremel. I would suggest hitting up the bumpy spots on the surface with your 60 grain sanding block - any bumps will show though your covering layer.

This would be the best time to drill the holes for your sub. You should drill through the fiberglass and the particle board in one shot so you know they will align. Use the mounting hardware of your choice.

OPTIONAL: To ensure an air tight fit, I went out and bought some GE silicone II to bead a seal around the sub-hole. I bought a tube that said "stays rubbery" or something like that so I knew it would be a flexible seal - fill the gaps with no hassle - I put about the beaded rings around the hole and let it dry before fitting the sub once again.

Side view - ALMOST DONE!

The only thing left is for you to apply the covering. I used a fleece material that was almost the same color as my trunk. I was lazy and only covered the front of the box since no one would see any other part anyway.

You apply it with spray glue, just as you did the stretchy material - I recommend 2 or more layers to hide any surface imperfections in your fiberglass work.

Drumroll please..........

That's it!! Now all you have to do is drill some holes for the speaker wire (or however you want to do that), and mount it in your car (I made a bracket of sorts). The enclosure is DONE!

I thought it looked good to hit the black part of my sub with some tire shine.....makes it look sharp - the one pic below didn't have it.....still hot Though!!

Here are the glory shots...haha
