Title: Some updates of my A4....
Post by: robbie1988 on March 07, 2009, 04:14:36 PM
Been having a few things changed on the A4 this week as have been bored

First up was the grill - I sourced some Audi mesh from Germany then got my surround painted gloss black - the top grill was bought from an Audi dealership that imports a few bits.

Then was looking at engine bay and decided to paint the intake manifold matt black.

Opinions welcomed

Bottom grill is a home made job with the mesh supplied by my local Audi dealership - they sourced it from Germany for me.

As for the top grill will find where I got it from as know it was on the net.

Foglight grills are the standard one - ultrasport rings a bell with the fog grills.

Mesh is RS6 mesh

What year is your Audi ...On pic 8 there is a cover over the washer fluid and power steering. Did that come with when you got it? Never seen that before. Just curious. And the fog light covers ECS $80 bones is the cheapest ive seen. Have you seen anywhere else ?

I had to replace the front fog light grills after a wagon kicked up a tray into the front of my car and only paid £14 per grill which is about $20 each and that was from Audi itself

Car is a 2004 model A4 B6 190 S Line and the cover you talking \bout is a modified version from a different model audi cut to fit around the intake manifold pipe

Yeah mate just print picture of my engine and take it to Audi dealership explaining what cover you need on the picture - that all I did as saw one on a different A4 - on the 1.8T engines it will require trimming around where the intake manifold hose goes though

Think it was only £30 which is about $40 or thereabouts

Everyone asks that though as it looks lower than standard

Looks nice! Good to see someone who has mounted the airfilter the right way for once:) The intake manifold looks great in black, just ordinary type of paint or did you use high temperature paint? Is that a Jaycap oil cap? :)

i love the grill mesh.  came out beautiful.  good call on the intake.  You have a black dip stick.  is that a uk thing? or anyone else have a black oil dip stick?  or did you paint that?  I like mine in orange, but just wanted to ask.  struck me as strange

I painted the dipstick as well - is funny watching mechanics trying to find the orange one lol

Used high temperature paint on the manifold and dipstick - nearly sold the car this month as it packed up but it still here and working again

Going for sideskirts and repainted front and rear bumpers due to stonechips on the front and a parking ding in the back

SOld all the engine bits as going to go for more power so am now looking for better bits

change your blue airfilter, I had the same one and once I put another better made one (generic) the car ran alot better, this blue e-bay filter seemed to be more restrictive.

Where did you get the carbon engine cover from? I've seen it in a lot of webshops but now that I've come around to buy one I can only find the smaller engine cover type they sell at 034motorsport.com http://www.034motorsport.com/product_info.php?products_id=516 (http://www.034motorsport.com/product_info.php?products_id=516)

Anyone know where they sell engine covers with the same size and shape as the original? The color of the cover isnt so important as I'm going to paint it anyway.

Just a needle in a haystack I came on here and saw replies - the A4 got sold over a year ago lol

Replaced it with my little track weapon;

I installed the intake the same as the instructions on the net said - will try and retrieve the link for you.

The carbon cover came from ebay for the bargain sum  of £21 Approx $35

I really like the barbeque barbecue capable.  came out wonderful.  excellent contact on the consumption.  You have a dark dip keep.  is that a uk thing? or anyone else have a dark oil dip stick?  or did you colour that?  I like my own in lemon, but just desired to ask.  hit me as strange
