what do you have planned... keep the thread updated with your progress

I have a carbon fiber VIS hood, FK headlights, Reiger front bumper, S6 18" wheels, FMIC, forge DV, Roof spoiler and decklid spoiler, phat noise, turbotimer.... to start, once I have had some drive time with it I will chip it (APR 1+ with injectors), I am sending out to the frame shop to get pulled back to spec tomorrow, should be not bad once it is done, I will post pics etc as it goes along.
-
OK Here we go off to the frame shop to get her straight!! Hope I do not end up with a limo!! :-)

Well it has been a while, and alot of nights and week-ends but the end is near now.... so far:
Pulled the frame straight
Welded in the new sheetmetal
new steering rack
right side suspention
chucked out the K03, put in the GTRS
exhaust manifold
boost controll
FMIC
TIP
snub mount
short shift/ JH bushings
turbo timer
boost guage/ podi
complete timing belt overhaul with lightened crank pulley
not to mention all the broken front end parts (rad, condenser, rad support, etc)
Carbon hood
reiger bumper
revo software
550cc injectors
Good news is it started on the first try! and runs smoother than my wife's K04'd 02 B6 with GIAC
(http://)
Now as we continue with the mutilation of the reiger bumper to fit all the intercooler piping.....
not yet installed:
Koni coil overs
S4 front brake upgrade
airfuel guage
FK HID headlights
reiger roof spoiler
reiger side skirts
test pipe
and a few more goodies.... if I don't burn out first!!
Anyone interested in a GTRS write up let me know.

great, the car has come a long way
have you actually driven it yet?
-
no, no drive time yet, the car has only idled up to operating temp, to make sure all is OK, now I need to finish all the body work and send it out to inspection to be allowed to drive the car on public roads. It's a totaled title. BUT it idles real smoothe and sounds almost stock, nicer idle than my wife's K04 B6.
-
wow ziggi, your a good wrencher man, that thing looks really nice, what kinda fmic you got bro?
-
Oh sorry, and the cf hood? where you get it?
-
Well this is the story and I'm sticking to it.... way back when the K03 was thought to be still good (before I found pieces of the MAF in it) I had taken a chance on the ebay china FMIC kit, so a few bucks later I had the kit but then the turbo was shot, I really should have put a higher quality one, BUT the kit is really not bad at all, all the piping is really well done, the intercooler seems to be good, so I decided to run with it and see if it gives me any issues. I opted ofr t bolt clamps instead of what came in the kit, but otherwise it is pretty good. The CF hood I found at carbon creations in cali. I bought it new on ebay however the hood is made by VIS. I am torm between the typical painted sides or keeping it all CF. The quaklity of the hood is OK, the biggest issue with the CF hoods are (besides cost) the fit and finish of them, I have not done the final fitting and adjusting yet but is seem to be fair as far as fit goes. I also have a set of aerocatch hood pins to put on. I have had some local guys actually have the top half of the CF hoods peel off on the highway (ok they may have been cheap hoods and maybe they were going 130mph but....).
-
so the fmic is an ebay kit? lol wow, it runs good? did you dyno before/after to see any slight results? also did you come upon any boost leaks with the fmic?
oh lol, whered ya get that reiger front? i want one, that or the 2nd Gen...
so how did your TT get stolen? i ask alot... haha
-
I could not dyno anything since I bought the car as a total loss. The FMIC had no boost leaks when I ran the car to operating temps, I also added the t bolt clamps to be sure no hoses would get blown off, and I especially made sure all the connections (god knows there are a ton now) were good and tight. The car only has 18K miles on it, and runs super smooth, started up on the first try and idles really nicely. We actually reproduce the front bumper locally, good thing since I am chopping the thing up for the piping, but I am already working on a nice set of custom grills to hide all the chaos, and no not the big BBQ Honda kind! the TT got ripped off out of my driveway, sucks since the car was silly, ran 21lbs of boost and was fun for about 6 weeks, it took me 45 days to build it and I got 6 weeks out of it, bummer. One thing is sure the factory alarm/ immobilizer is junk, and now i should not have the issue again, I have CCTV around the house, several ignition kill, alarms etc on the cars (paranoid much!) BTW the TT was also a total loss.
-
damn man that really sucks, did insurance cover for the tt? or did you ever recover it?
lemme see how those custom grills turn out! i am really interested!
-
insurance barely covered what I put in, nevermind the hours etc... The grills I need to make will be steel mesh with a frame and then powdercoat black, i need to make the grills almost flush with the face of the bumper since the FMIC piping and stuff are in the way to fit the fogs back, but if I bring the fogs out a half inch they are flush with the front of the bumper, and then make the grills to cover and surround the fogs...should look nice. I want to use small size mesh so you see less behind it. I'll post pics, I should be good to make them this week-end.

Here is a teaser, just finished the paint on the car, now on to the misc parts, and then re-assembly...
-
can u post some pic on how u mounted the front bumper, like if u directly mounted it to the support or use the rebar, cause im working on mine atm and needed some idea on how to do so. thx in advnace
-
which bumper are you m,ounting, I began with a reiger but changed to S4
-
Here is another teaser pic of the S4 front bumper mounted with the custom inserts we made, the idea is to try and keep the front looking "stealthy", so I'm trying to keep the intercooler hidden etc. Because of all the piping I had to cut up the bumper so the original grilles would not be possible to mount anymore.
-
looks pretty nice ziggi...
what did you do with your rieger?
-
nothing yet, just sitting around.
-
well we are almost done now, got the all the front done, gaps adjusted etc, CF hood sucks as far as fit is concerned but I managed to get it looking half decent. Need to get the headlights in (I'm going to borrow my wife's lights to pass the safety inspection, then put in the FK angeleyes). Now on to the interior, time to add the PHAT noise I have lying around, the wideband AF guage, and then the rear spoilers. I hope to get it pretty much done by the weekend, Post inspection I will also add the test pipe, and drop the suspention with bilstein shocks and abt coils (I need to drive it in the winter, so not too much of a drop.....bummer).
-
lookin good... its up and running right now?
whatd you stick in the headlight switch? cant see what kind of gauge that is
-
it needs that suspension bad =/
-
nothing yet, just sitting around.
i actually got a full rieger kit off az =]
currently getting painted!
-
the guage is an autometer wideband a/f, the car is running, but has yet to pass provinvial inspection, so I have not really run it yet, looking forward to logging it and seeing how it all hooks up. The suspention is sitting in the garage, but I want to pass inspection first, also need to put the test pipe in, a few more mods on the shelf to be done post inspection. Once it is all together I'll post some better pics.

Can u post some pic on how u set up the top factor fender, like if u directly set up it to the support or use the rebar, cause im managing on my own atm and needed some idea on how to do so. thx in advnace
Sorry but I am not sure exactly what you want to know.
