Everyone:

I have decided to close the discussion forum.   It has become increasingly difficult to prevent spam from taking over the forum.   This, combined with the fact that I have sold my A4 makes the forum too difficult to upkeep.    I will leave it in place, but simply remove permissions to post new topics.

Thanks to all of the members who have joined and participated!

oh and your wires might be white and brown if its post 2004+

ok - so that is apparently a microphone.  It's either part of the bose system or a telphone system depending on what options you have.  I pulled mine - there are no physical electrical connections there in the dome light, it is simply snapping in place - it doesn't make sense that putting it in its place would cause issues, unless doing so puts tension on the wires and crosses them or something.

when I snapped mine in place, it goes such that the green wire is towards the center/inside of the fixture.   It snaps down twice.

I'll dig though the manual when i get a chance.   If you ahve extra fuses, install one with the connection not in place, and then move the wires around and see if it blows.  I bet there is a short along the length of the wire somewehre (nicked wire, etc)

so I tried to get the information out my bentley manual - but unfortunately it doesn't work on windows 7 and I no longer have my old computer.  They are sending me a hard copy.  once I have that, I can tell you where that wire goes and what it is for.

If you are in a hurry, I can pop my switch out and see if I can figure it out this weekend.

I may have a wiring diagram at home that says what that is.  Just out of curiosity - in the picture you posted the housing for the switch which holds the circuit board in place is cracked - was it that way before you started?   do you know if that crack is into the board or effecting that connection?

hello, my name is nick andim currently searching for an audi a4 turbo and have a few basic qeustions before i purchase a car. I was wondering at what power point the stock short block becomes the weak link and at what power levels the stock block is reliable at. other than apr, are there any other sites that i could find complete kits for upgrading things.  and last but not least. in stock, or slightly modified bolt on form are these cars fairly reliable, or do people have lots of problems with them. im not new to cars or anything and i understand how fast is how much money you have. im a very inclined mechanic and fabricator so im not afraid to really tear into something. just looking for some basic info. i have really taken a liking to the way these cars look when they are nice and clean. id love and s4 but they are just lil pricy for me. thanks for the help. i really appreciate peoples patients and info.

I have run the APR 3+ kit for 6 years or so.  My engine is the most reliable part of my car.  I believe this kit pushes the stock internals to their limits.

The block can be good for a ton of power, but obviously the other internals will  have to be upgraded.   The a4 is basically an overweight 'slow' all wheel drive car.  With the APR 3 kit it is fun to drive, but it no better than modern stock 2.0T cars you can buy today.  You will have to dump a fortune into it for it to be 'fast' - and even at that, it will never be fast like a corvette, etc.

I am sure there are all sorts of things you CAN do - but if you want reliability and not a million headaches, I would just stick with a known quantity from a well known tuner like APR.  With my apr3, I have a reliable, fun to drive car that doesn't break the bank.

just my 2 pennies.

save your money.  There are people running stock airboxes on 400hp systems.   The only reason people pull the airbox is if their turbo is so big that they HAVE to put on an intake

10
I am 99% sure they are not compatible.  I think even the 2002 (which is a B6) is slightly different than the 2003+

cool - thanks for the feedback.  I will put a link to this thread in the writeup

can you FEEL it when it does it, or do you only hear it?  Could you see it being an air leak of some kind, or does it seem mechanical?

you have to make the picture smaller on your own computer.  The size limit it to prevent pictures of unnecessarily high resolution from being posted.
